CODE OF CONDUCT

The Lyndonville Central School District Code of Conduct is reviewed and updated annually to ensure compliance with New York State law and to reflect the District's commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment.

The current Code was presented to the Board of Education and the community on July 15, 2026. In accordance with New York State requirements, the draft was available for 30 days of public review and comment before being presented to the Board of Education for formal adoption at its August 18, 2026 meeting.

Community members are encouraged to review the proposed Code of Conduct and submit any comments during the public review period.

The Lyndonville Central School District provides computers, Chromebooks, networks, internet access, and online learning tools to support teaching and learning. These resources are a privilege, not a right. By using District technology, I agree to the following:

I Will...

  • Use District technology for educational purposes.
  • Follow the District Code of Conduct while using technology, both at school and when using District devices off campus.
  • Be respectful and kind when communicating online.
  • Protect my passwords and keep my account secure.
  • Take care of my Chromebook and other District technology.
  • Tell a teacher or other trusted adult if I see something online that is inappropriate, threatening, or makes me uncomfortable.

I Will Not...

  • Use another person's account or allow someone else to use mine.
  • Attempt to bypass the District's internet filters, security settings, or monitoring systems.
  • Access, create, or share inappropriate, offensive, threatening, or illegal content.
  • Cyberbully, harass, threaten, or impersonate another person.
  • Download or install software, extensions, VPNs, or apps that are not approved by the District.
  • Damage District equipment or intentionally interfere with the operation of the District's technology systems.
  • Use District technology for commercial activities or illegal purposes.

Privacy and Monitoring

District technology, internet activity, email, files, and online activity may be monitored or reviewed by authorized school personnel. Students should not expect privacy when using District-owned devices, accounts, or networks.

The District uses filtering and monitoring tools to help protect students and maintain a safe learning environment. These systems assist school staff but are not monitored continuously, and alerts may not be reviewed until regular school hours.

Consequences

Failure to follow this agreement may result in:

  • Loss or restriction of technology privileges;
  • School disciplinary action under the District Code of Conduct; and/or
  • Legal action when appropriate.
