Superintendent

Introductory Letter

Dear Lyndonville Community,

I’m excited to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of the Lyndonville Central School District!

Before moving to Western New York after college, I grew up in a small town called Arkport. It reminds me a lot of Lyndonville. We had just one stoplight and one school building for all students in kindergarten through 12th grade. My graduating class had only 45 students — and that was considered big! In towns like Arkport and Lyndonville, the school is more than just a place to learn. It’s where families come together, traditions are celebrated and people stay connected for generations.

A woman with long brown hair smiles at the camera, wearing a patterned black and white sweater.Growing up in a small town taught me how important relationships are. I believe schools do their best work when everyone — students, families, teachers, staff and community members — feels welcome, respected and included. That belief guides my leadership every day.

I’d also like to tell you a little about myself. I’m a wife and a proud mom of three kids. My oldest son just started college, my daughter is a high school junior and my youngest son is a high school freshman. I started my career in education as a long-term substitute teacher for English Language Arts. Since then, I’ve worked as a classroom teacher, a staff developer and a school district leader.

I’ve had the chance to work with many different students — those who speak English at home and those learning it for the first time, students who need extra help and students who are ready for advanced work, and students with special education plans like IEPs or 504s. No matter their background, I believe every child deserves the chance to grow, learn and succeed.

I care deeply about making sure schools are welcoming, supportive places where students can reach their full potential and teachers have what they need to do their best work. I also believe that how we spend our budget should reflect what we care about — people, programs and opportunities for students. I look forward to working with the Board and the community to make smart choices that lead to success for all.

Lyndonville is already a strong district with a proud history, and I’m honored to be part of it. I’m excited to build on that success together with you. To help you get to know me better, I’ve shared my top five leadership values below.

I’m looking forward to meeting many of you soon. I truly believe that when we listen to each other and work as a team, great things can happen for our students and our community.

My door is always open. You can reach me by email at hlyon@lcsdk12.org or by phone at (585) 765-3101.
